Simon Griffiths fired a final-round 67 to win the 2026 Costa Navarino Legends Tour Trophy at 12-under-par, finishing three strokes ahead of Scotland’s David Drysdale after a back-nine surge settled a wide-open contest in Messinia, Greece.
Eight players shared the lead going into the final round of the 54-hole event, staged from June 8–13 across two José María Olazábal-designed courses at Navarino Hills. Eight-time European Tour Order of Merit winner Colin Montgomerie and 1991 Masters champion Ian Woosnam headlined the field for the tournament’s third edition, with defending champion Peter Baker and 2024 inaugural winner Clark Dennis also in the mix.
Drysdale’s Early Charge
Drysdale set the pace on the International Olympic Academy Golf Course, birdieing three of his first five holes to move into the outright lead. Baker, who won the 2025 title by six shots, also pushed into contention early. But Drysdale’s bid unravelled at the 12th, where he missed the green long and three-putted for bogey.

Griffiths Strikes at 13 and 14
The decisive stretch came immediately after. Griffiths converted birdie putts on consecutive holes while his nearest challengers could not match him.
“13 was big,” Griffiths said. “I hit it into about six feet. Haeggman missed and I holed, which was big. Then the next I hit it to maybe ten feet. He had about 12 feet, he missed and I holed, so it was just a bit of momentum going my way right when I needed it.”
Drysdale finished alone in second at nine-under. Baker, Dennis, Scotland’s Doug McGuigan and Ryder Cup veteran Joakim Haeggman shared third on eight-under.
Griffiths Ends Winless Spell
The victory was Griffiths’ first of the 2026 season and his third Legends Tour title overall, arriving after an extended spell of poor form that had left him questioning whether another win would come.
“I’m shocked to be honest,” Griffiths said. “When I won the other two, I felt like I was playing well and I felt like I should have been out there, but I hadn’t played well for such a long time. You’re just not sure if it’s ever going to come back again.”
Montgomerie, whose 31 DP World Tour victories make him one of the most decorated players in the field, finished tied 35th at level par. Woosnam, making his tournament debut at the venue, came in 59th at 11-over.

Costa Navarino’s Place on the Calendar
The Greek destination, named “World’s Best Golf Venue” at the last two editions of the World Golf Awards, has now produced a different winner in each of the tournament’s three years. Dennis, who took the inaugural title in 2024 at 17-under, offered his view of where it sits on the schedule.
“I think it’s our best venue,” Dennis said.
Costa Navarino has four 18-hole signature courses in total, and the tournament used The Hills Course and the International Olympic Academy Golf Course. Baker, who knows the layout well after back-to-back visits, pointed to the premium on accuracy off the tee as a defining feature of the test.
Griffiths’ closing-round surge puts him back among the Legends Tour winners after months of doubt, at a venue that again drew several of the senior circuit’s biggest names to the Peloponnese.
