Jeff Winther Claims Home Victory at Danish Golf Championship

A 31-foot eagle putt at the 16th carried the 38-year-old Dane through a crowded leaderboard and delivered his second DP World Tour title.

Jeff Winther won the 2026 Danish Golf Championship on home soil after a 31-foot eagle at the 16th settled a chaotic final round at Great Northern.

The 38-year-old finished at 15-under in Kerteminde, three shots clear of a five-player group in second place. Eight players held at least a share of the lead during Sunday’s play, but Winther emerged with his second DP World Tour title.

Winther recovers from two early bogeys

Winther began the final round four strokes behind overnight leader Romain Langasque. Birdies at the 4th and 5th moved the Dane into contention before bogeys at the 6th and 8th stalled his progress.

He responded with successive birdies from the ninth, then made another at the 13th to join Yanhan Zhou at the top on 13-under. Zhou’s bogey at the 14th briefly left Winther alone in front.

Rasmus Højgaard then produced a late charge for the home crowd. After playing his opening 12 holes in level par, he birdied the 15th and 16th before chipping in for eagle at the par-5 17th.

Those gains moved Højgaard alongside Winther at 13-under, but the tie lasted only two minutes. Winther holed his eagle putt from 31 feet at the 16th to jump two shots clear.

Højgaard bogeyed the last, while Matthew Jordan’s birdie at the 17th left Winther with a two-shot advantage as he approached Great Northern’s difficult par-3 finishing hole. Winther found the green and safely two-putted for par.

Zhou needed a hole-in-one at the 18th to force a play-off, but his tee shot finished short. His closing bogey expanded Winther’s winning margin to three.

Eight players shared the lead during the final round

Langasque’s overnight advantage disappeared quickly after bogeys at each of his first three holes. Zhou birdied the first and moved two clear at 14-under, although dropped shots at the 3rd and 4th brought the chasing group back into the tournament.

Caleb Surratt, Jordan and Winther reached 12-under with birdies at the fifth. Antoine Rozner joined them after recovering from bogeys at the 2nd and 3rd with consecutive gains.

Jordan moved ahead at 13-under with a birdie at the 9th, only to bogey the 10th. Winther, Surratt, Rozner, Zhou and Filippo Celli then joined him at the summit, with Celli’s sixth birdie of the round coming at the 17th.

Celli completed a bogey-free 66 to establish the clubhouse target at 12-under. Højgaard, Oliver Lindell, Zhou and Jordan eventually joined him in a share of second.

Marcus Helligkilde and Langasque finished at 11-under, one stroke ahead of Jacob Skov Olesen, Freddy Schott, Joel Girrbach and Ewen Ferguson in a tie for ninth.

A second DP World Tour title

Winther worked as a greenkeeper 15 years ago and said he never expected to see his name engraved on the Danish Golf Championship trophy.

“No! I was never going to be a golfer so this is just insane. I don’t know what to say, I’m in shock!”

Winther became the second Danish winner of the event. He said the victory ranked just behind the births of his children and credited the galleries for supporting him throughout the week.

“The crowds carried me all week, it’s been unbelievable.”
