Michael Block carded a bogey-free 65, 7-under par, on Saturday and will carry a two-stroke advantage into the final round of The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren.

The 50-year-old club professional reached 13-under 131 at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club, moving clear of Steven Alker, who also carded 65 to finish at 11-under.

Pádraig Harrington birdied three of his final five holes for a 69 and sits third at 10-under. First-round leader Vaughn Taylor followed his opening 63 with an even-par 72, leaving him tied for fourth alongside Ricardo Gonzalez at 9-under.

Block Chases First PGA Tour Champions Title

Block, who turned 50 on June 15, is making only his fifth PGA Tour Champions start. Sunday will be his first time leading through 36 holes or playing in the final group on the senior circuit.

His previous best position after two rounds was tied third at last week’s Rogers Charity Classic, where he eventually shared fifth place. That result followed a tie for ninth at the DICK’S Open, giving him two top-10 finishes in four starts.

Block’s 65 matched his lowest round on PGA Tour Champions. He recorded the same score in each of the first two rounds at the Rogers Charity Classic.

The head PGA professional at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo, California, has scrambled successfully on all 12 occasions this week. No other player in the field has matched that record.

A victory would make Block the fifth first-time winner on PGA Tour Champions this season. Zach Johnson, Boo Weekley and Scott Hend have earned their first titles, while Ben Crane won the team-format American Family Insurance Championship alongside Darren Clarke.

Block’s best result in 36 PGA Tour starts remains his tie for 15th at the 2023 PGA Championship, the best finish by a club professional in that event since 1986. He was PGA Professional Player of the Year in 2022 and 2023.

Alker Continues Late-Season Run

Alker will attempt to win in consecutive starts after beating Y.E. Yang in a playoff at the Rogers Charity Classic. The New Zealander is fourth in the Charles Schwab Cup standings and already has two victories this season.

Harrington, who turns 55 on Monday, is seeking his second title of 2026. The World Golf Hall of Fame member won his third US Senior Open in July, defending the title by four shots.

Two-time defending champion Stewart Cink shot 71 and is tied for 12th at 6-under. Cink leads the Charles Schwab Cup after collecting five victories during the season.
