The American holds his first 36-hole lead or co-lead on Tour and tied the most eagles made in a 72-hole event on record (1983-present).
“I just had some good numbers into par-5s and was able to execute my shots. I had some putts drop. So it was nice to make some eagles.”
“I think putting the ball in the fairway, hitting a lot of greens and really seeing lines well on my putts[went well],” said Thompson. “Just everything is kind of clicking these last two days and I’m just looking forward to trying to keep it rolling tomorrow.”

Jon Rahm, also playing playing the Nicklaus Tournament Course, lies in second place at 16-under after carding a second 64.
He holds the Tour’s longest active made-cuts streak (20) with his last missed cut coming at the 2021 Fortinet Championship.
“Feeling great. Lot of confidence,” said the Spaniard. “Having essentially the hardest course two days in a row, but I’m in a really good position. So hopefully I can keep the good game going.”
Tom Kim shot the low round of the day with a 10-under 62 on the Nicklaus Course. He shares third place at 13-under with fellow South Korean Sungjae Im (66), Americans J.T. Poston (66) and Tyler Duncan (67) and Australian Jason Day (64).
