March 04-07
Bay Hill Club & Lodge, Orlando, Florida
$9,300,000
Round 1, Round 3, Round 4

Corey Conners started the day tied for the lead and an early bogey at the par-3 4th did not look promising but he kept calm and saved par on seven occasions, made two birdies and took the lead with a 25-foot eagle putt at the par-5 16th, closing with a 3-under 69 for a one-shot lead at 9-under.

Conners has won only once on Tour, at the 2019 Valero Texas Open, and has only once held the lead heading into the weekend, at the 2018 Valspar Championship where he closed with a 77.

"I haven't really been in this position a lot, but I have a lot of confidence in my game and feeling really relaxed the last few days, so try and keep that going," said Conners. "I feel like I have a lot of energy. I had an off week last week and really excited for the weekend."

Martin Laird, who won in 2011 with a final round 75, fired four birdies, an eagle at the par-5 12th and a bogey at the par-4 15th for a 67 and lies one shot behind Conners.

Overnight co-leader Rory McIlroy slipped down to a tie for third place alongside Viktor Hovland (68) and Lanto Griffin (68) after shooting four birdies, three bogeys and closing with five consecutive pars for a 71.

"It could have been the round that I could have shot 74 or 75. I got in with 71 and pretty happy with that," said McIlroy.

Bryson DeChambeau struggled on the front nine making three bogeys and two birdies to make the turn in 37. Two birdies on the back nine let him close with a 71 and sixth place at 6-under.

Players are now bracing for the weather as the forecast calls for heavy rain on Saturday which would make Bay Hill play longer and harder.

"We'll just see what happens and be ready for anything," said Conners.
