American Adam Schenk closed with a birdie on the final hole to score 11 points on Saturday, taking a four point lead into the final day in Barracuda Championship.
Barracuda Championship 2021 R3
“I like the course,” said Schenk. “It’s just weird, I drove it really well last year, so I guess I just like the way the course sets up, suits my eye.”
Schenk made seven birdies and a single bogey to reach 38 points for the tournament on Tahoe Mountain Club’s Old Greenwood Course.
“The course firmed up a little bit. Just driving it so nice so far this week, so the putter has not been as good as it’s been the first day, but I’m still rolling it nice. And if the driver continues tomorrow, it should be a fun day.”
51 eagles through Round 3. 🦅 We can’t wait to see what the Championship Round brings.

Barracuda Championship 2021 R3
The tournament is the only event on the PGA Tour to use the modified Stableford scoring system where an albatross is worth 8 points, eagles are 5, birdies are worth 2 and pars score 0. A point is substracted for a bogey and double bogeys or worse cost 3 points.
The winner will gain entry into next year’s PGA Championship but not to the Masters as the Championship is held opposite this week’s WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational.
Barracuda Championship 2021 R3
2018 champion Andrew Putnam of the USA made six birdies and a double bogey at the par-4 16th to score 9 points.
“Had it going for most of the day,” said Putnam. “Just one bad swing that was unfortunate, cost me three points. But other than that, held it together pretty good.”
He’s T2 at 34 points alongside South African Erik van Rooyen who scored 10 points after six birdies and two bogeys.
“I think at the end of the day the player that plays the best is going to win,” said van Rooyen. “I don’t see why I have to be more risky.”
After three rounds, 1,358 birdies are on the board! 🐦 We’re excited to see a big impact for local charities.
