Adam Scott carded a 69 on Friday, in spite of a double bogey at the par-4 17th, to reach 8-under and take a one-shot lead in the BMW Championship.

“Overall, I felt really in control today, said the Australian. "When you're playing that way, it always could be a couple better, and a poor shot on 17 was quite costly. It's a good reminder for the weekend that I've really got to keep it under control and don't want to have too many get off the map and get out of position around here. But I kept it in position really well all day and had so many good looks and was cruising there for a while.

"But I'm in great shape going into the weekend. I don't even know when the last time I led a tournament was.”

His last 36 hole lead goes back to the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Doral in 2016 which he went on to win, and his last title came at the Genesis Invitational in 2020.

“I certainly haven’t had my best stuff for quite a while. It’s been a battle for sure,” he continued. “But that’s how this game is. I’d like to make the most of this position now over the next 36 holes.”
