Kiradech Aphibarnrat signed for a second round 68 to take the solo lead at the BMW PGA Championship.

The Thai player's form has been lacking recently, he missed eleven of his last fifteen cuts this year, but he could be on course for a third Rolex Series title this week.

He leads the tournament by one shot after firing six birdies and two bogeys.

"I'm really proud the way I'm playing the first two rounds. A lot of good stuff in there.

"Everyone tried to get a low score but this golf course, you can hit a lot of birdies but it can hurt you if you're out of position. I tried to play for more fairways, more greens. My putter was rolling well this week and I'm really pleased.

"I don't want to really set a goal, to be honest. I just want to go out there and swing, what I'm doing the first two rounds, do the same thing I'm doing, try to hit fairways, greens. Whatever the result, at the end of the day, I just accept it."

England's Laurie Canter and Italy's Francesco Laporta share second place one shot behind Aphibarnrat after rounds of 66 and a bogey-free 65 respectively.

Australian Adam Scott had a more uneven second round on Friday, producing six birdies, an eagle and three bogeys for a 69 to take solo fourth place at 10-under , one ahead of England's Justin Rose (68), Jamie Donaldson of Wales (66) and American Billy Horschel (65).

South Africa Christiaan Bezuidenhout, who held a share of the lead overnight with Aphibarnrat, produced two birdies and two bogeys to sign for a 72 and slipped down into a share of eighth place alongside Englishman Marcus Armitage (66), and Irishman Shane Lowry (66).

For the first time in this event the same hole was aced twice in the same round when Denmark's Joachim B. Hansen and France's Romain Langasque both shot holes-in-one at the 10th.
