Taylor Pendrith is heading into the final round of his fourth PGA Tour tournament with a three-shot lead after reaching 17-under in the Butterfield Bermuda Championship at Port Royal.

Bermuda Championship 2021 R3

The Canadian started the day with a one-shot lead at 11-under after closing with a 61 on Friday and made a single bogey at the par-4 5th before a run of four birdies from the 7th then three more to close with a 65.

"For whatever reason, it is hard to follow up a low one with another low one, but I've been hitting it really nicely and just had to stay patient today. I hit some really nice shots early and didn't make a birdie until I think 8. Had a good look on 1, good look on 2 and just had to be really patient and knew I was going to get on a run at some point during the round. Was able to get four in a row and kind of really jump start the round."

"I haven't looked at the forecast recently, but it looked like it's going to get nasty. It's nice to have a couple-shot lead, but anything can happen. It's going to be crazy out there, so just try to make some pars I think will be good tomorrow and hit some solid shots and try not to fall over."

A win on Sunday would win him a two-year exemption and a place in next year's Masters.

New Zealand's Danny Lee, coming back from an injury, also produced a 65 to take second place at 14-under. Lee, the only player in the top-5 of the leaderboard with a previous win on Tour, last won at the Greenbrier Classic six years ago.

"It feels great. I haven't had this kind of round or this kind of week in a while. It's good to be back in contention and feel a little bit of nerves and seeing the crowds and getting to mix with the crowds, hitting a lot of good golf shots, making a lot of birdies out there. It's been a lot of fun.

"Everything went very smoothly today. There's no really big mis-hits other than 13 and 14 off the tee, but other than that, everything was really good. I hit a really, really good tee shot on No. 16. It's a nerve-wracking hole. Every time I go there, it's like that's a tough hole, but I made a good par there and a good birdie finish. I could have done a little better with the second shot on 18, but it's just golf, so I'll just go to the driving range and work on it a little bit, I guess."

Bermuda Championship 2021 R3

Lucas Herbert of Australia (65), a winner on the European Tour, lies in third place at 13-under.

Americans Patrick Rodgers (69) and Vincent Whaley (68) share fourth place at 12-under.
