Americans Brandon Hagy and Chad Ramey hold the clubhouse lead at 6-under after a difficult day in Bermuda. Wind and heavy rain caused a suspension of play in the morning and while it calmed somewhat in the afternoon gusts were still strong enough to render putting difficult.

Hagy started in the afternoon, as did Ramey, and fired nine birdies, a bogey and a double bogey at the par-4 15th to close with a 65.

"I was able to keep the ball down with driver and hit it solid, which is nice," said Hagy, "I think that's one of those situations where my ball speed kind of helps with the wind a little bit. I hit my putts really good today.

"I was walking down the 10th fairway, our first hole, and I saw 2 under was leading. I was like, wow, it's playing difficult. I think it laid down a little bit for us, but it was still pretty stout. The eighth hole, our 17th hole, was a pretty stiff breeze, but I hit a lot of good putts and they went in. I think there's going to be some times where you get gusts and the ball doesn't go in, but you kind of have to keep your head down and keep trying to hit some good shots."

Ramey made six birdies and stayed bogey-free for his share of the lead at Port Royal just before play was suspended due to darkness.

"It was a really well-played round kind of all around on my part. It was a grind out there. I think the wind might have been blowing a little harder this morning, but it was still going really hard this afternoon. I was just doing the best I could do to keep the ball in position."

Fellow American Vincent Whaley produced five birdies, two bogeys and an eagle at the par-5 17th to close with a 66 taking solo third place at 5-under.

He is followed by a group of six players at 4-under and a group of five at 3-under.

Thirty three players in a field of 126 were under par when play was called only six of whom played in the morning.

The Butterfield Bermuda Championship is offering full FedExCup points this week because it is not taking place opposite the World Golf Championship-HSBC Champions in Shanghai which was cancelled once again this year due to the pandemic.
