Two hours later only overnight leader Scottie Scheffler had caught up with him after carding a 72 and set up a playoff that Burns won with a 38-foot birdie putt at the first extra hole.

This was his third victory this season followig the Sanderson Farms Championshis and the Valspar Championship.

“I’m pretty exhausted,” said Burns. “Mentally I was prepared to go as long as it took. I don't know if I could have done it physically. But mentally I was ready. When coach calls your name, you've got to be ready to play, and I think we did a really good job of being ready.”

"With the wind we had today and the way the golf course is set up, to go out and shoot the score that I did today was really good."

Brendon Todd carded a 71 to take third place at 8-under while Tony Finau (67), Davis Riley (69) and Scott Stallings (72) completed the all-American Top five at 7-under.
