Cobra Golf have unveiled T-RAIL, its first all-hollow iron-hybrid set.

The release is targeting beginners, as well as golfers seeking extra distance and forgiveness.

T-RAIL (Transitional Rail) combines the forgiveness of a hybrid with the precision of an iron and is the latest contribution to the super game-improvement market.

Tom Olsavsky, VP of R&D for Cobra Golf, said: “T-RAIL irons make it easy for beginners and golfers who have lost some distance and control to gain the confidence needed to play better and have more fun.”

“Players who need max forgiveness and are looking for more distance will be amazed at how far and straight they hit these, even being able to get them airborne from tough lies.”

A hollow body construction creates a lower, deeper centre of gravity than the traditional cavity-back iron design. As such, the irons place a focus on getting the ball airborne easily, as well as on the desired target line.

Notably, the Cobra Baffler Rail Technology present in previous hybrid and fairway wood releases carries its identity into the T-RAIL irons.

The purpose behind the Baffler technology dates back to 2016, when Cobra’s star tour player Rickie Fowler requested that Cobra engineers create a fairway wood that would allow him to be more aggressive through impact.

Fowler wanted to remove any inconsistencies regarding club-turf interaction, and this was realised in the F7 range of fairways and hybrids in 2017.

At the time, Olsavsky said: “The [Baffler] rails actually help the club continue to maintain its speed through the shot, but it’s also huge in terms of playability from all kinds of different lies”.

For the golfer seeking to add more consistency to their overall game, the T-RAIL irons’ high-strength, forged steel face – which features a thin pocket from heel to toe – is designed to enhance ball speed and distance on off-center hits.

The T-RAIL Irons will be available from November 15, in both men’s and women’s set make-ups, with the combo sets including a 5-hybrid and 6-SW irons.
