Matt Fitzpatrick, Robert MacIntyre & Min Woo Lee Share Genesis Scottish Open Lead

The former champions and overnight leader reached 12-under by different routes, setting up a tightly packed final round at The Renaissance Club.

Robert MacIntyre could make history with a win at the Amgen Irish Open

Robert MacIntyre, Min Woo Lee and Matt Fitzpatrick completed the delayed third round tied at 12 under par on Sunday morning, leaving three players tied for the Genesis Scottish Open lead at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick.

MacIntyre, the 2024 champion, recorded a 65, while 2021 winner Lee and overnight leader Fitzpatrick each returned a 66. All three reached 198 after 54 holes.

The third round resumed at 7 a.m. local time after dense fog caused two suspensions on Saturday. The final group had played only seven holes before the second stoppage, requiring the leaders to complete their rounds before beginning the scheduled final round later on Sunday.

Lee made the first move after restarting at the ninth. The Australian produced three consecutive birdies to become the first player to reach 12-under and then moved to 13-under, but a dropped shot at the following hole put him back to 12-under.

MacIntyre established the first clubhouse target at 12-under after making consecutive birdies from the 12th. The Scottish home favourite then protected his position with a demanding par save at the 18th, where his tee shot found a fairway bunker. After playing out, he struck his approach to about three feet and converted the putt to complete the lowest round among the co-leaders.

Fitzpatrick followed MacIntyre into the tie with his final stroke of the third round. After making nine successive pars, the Englishman holed a 30-foot birdie putt at the 18th to finish his 66 and secure a place in the final group.

Tom Kim had an opportunity to take the outright lead on the same green, but a three-putt bogey dropped him to 11-under. He shares fourth place with defending champion Chris Gotterup and Michael Thorbjornsen, who completed rounds of 66 and 65 respectively.

Johnny Keefer sits two shots off the lead after shooting 64, the lowest third-round score among the leading contenders. Kevin Roy, Wyndham Clark and Keita Nakajima join him at 10-under, leaving ten players separated by two strokes.

Final-round schedule

Scott Jamieson and Eric Cole are scheduled to begin the final round as a two-ball at 10:25 a.m. local time, with the remaining players grouped in threesomes. Fitzpatrick, MacIntyre and Lee are due to start at 2:50 p.m.

The tournament is being played one week before The Open at Royal Birkdale. Eligible leading finishers can also contend for three remaining places in The Open field.
