A total of 14 LIV Golfers began the 2025 US Open with hopes of victory at Oakmont last week.
It wasn’t to be, as JJ Spaun birdied both the 17th and 18th – the first since Ben Hogan in 1953 to do this in a US Open at Oakmont – to claim his first major title.

Leading the LIV charge on Sunday were Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton and Carlos Oritz, although none could make the breakthrough and win the third major of the season.
All three finished in the top-ten, however and with Brooks Koepka securing a T12 finish at Oakmont, it was a decent week for those from the breakaway tour.
Just how well did all 14 players perform in Pennsylvania last week?
Where did all 14 LIV Golfers finish at the US Open?
Tyrrell Hatton – T4 (+3)
Hatton came so close to ending his wait for a first major title. The Englishman shot a final round 72 but it wasn’t enough.
His T4 finish was his best at a major championship, however, as he heads into the Open full of confidence.
Carlos Ortiz – TF (+3)
Ortiz had to use final qualifying as a means of securing a spot at the US Open, yet rounds of 71, 72, 67 and 73 saw him seal a top-five finish at Oakmont.
Jon Rahm – T7 (+4)
Rahm’s game is trending in the right direction when it comes to the majors. At the Masters, he finished in a tie for 14th, before challenging during the final round of the PGA Championship.
At Oakmont, his final round of 67 gave him the clubhouse lead at one stage, but hopes are high he can enter Portrush ready to win his third major title.
Brooks Koepka – T12 (+6)
For a fleeting moment during the first round, it looked as though the old Brooks Koepka was back. He shot an impressive 68, but that was as good as it got for the two-time US Open champion.
A T12 finish represents progress considering he missed the cut at the Masters and PGA, but there is still work to be done.
Patrick Reed – T23 (+8)
Reed surprised everyone by finishing third at Augusta, but his displays at the two subsequent majors haven’t quite lived up to expectations.
He never shot above 74 at Oakmont, but Reed was never on contention.
Marc Leishman – T38 (+11)
Another player who secured their spot at the tournament via final qualifying, Leishman performed fairly well.
In what was his first major start since the 2022 Open Championship, Leishman finished T38 at Oakmont.
Cameron Smith – MC (+8)
Smith’s struggles in the majors continue. This was his fourth missed cut in a row dating back to the 2024 US Open.
Phil Mickelson – MC (+8)
In what was likely to be his final shot at glory in his national championship, Mickelson missed the cut.
The six-time runner up at the US Open will see his exemption expire after this year and it is unlikely to see him take on qualifying.
Jinichiro Kozuma – MC (+9)
This was Kozuma’s third major championship having played in the PGA and US Open in 2022. Unsurprisingly, he missed the cut by two shots.
Dustin Johnson – MC (+10)
Johnson triumphed at this venue nine years ago, but any hope of him using that victory as inspiration last week came to an end after two rounds of 75.
Joaquin Niemann – MC (+10)
Niemann claimed victory in four of the opening eight LIV Golf League events this season. The Chilean has failed to make a mark in the majors, however.
His T8 at the PGA last month is still the only top-ten of his career.
Bryson DeChambeau – MC (+10)
DeChambeau was not only the defending champion, but also one of the favourites to win the title.
Finishing second at the PGA proved that he has the game to contend at the big events, but it wasn’t to be at Oakmont last week.
Jose Ballester – MC (+12)
LIV Golf’s newest signing, Ballester missed the cut by five shots in what was his first ever US Open.
Richard Bland – MC (+18)
Bland secured his place at the tournament courtesy of his victory at the 2024 Senior US Open, but Oakmont was clearly too much for him.
Rounds of 76 and 82 saw the Englishman head home early.
