Scottie Scheffler successfully defended his title after making three birdies and one bogey on Sunday at the Memorial Tournament to close with a 70 for a 10-under, 278 total.
“It was a great week. It’s always special being able to come here and play Mr. Nicklaus’s tournament,” said Scheffler. “The golf course was a great test this week. The rough was as healthy as I had seen it. We’ve had that length of rough before, but not the thickness. It was pretty nasty and it was a good challenge. Definitely fun to be sitting here.”
He finished second in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee (3.933) and Approach the Green (7.263); ranked 34th in Strokes Gained: Putting (-.058) his lowest position during a victory since the 2024 RBC Heritage (37th/.029).
“Only one bogey around this place is pretty good,” said Scheffler when asked how well things had gone on Sunday. “It’s hard to say. I hit a lot of fairways. I definitely wasn’t in the rough very much. I think I hit it in the rough off of 10, but outside of that, I don’t think I was really in the rough at all. So around this place, that’s going to be key. So I would say I drove the ball really nice today. I think that would probably be the thing I did best.”
The American’s 16th career PGA Tour victory came in his 142nd start at the age of 28 years, 11 months, 11 days.

Scheffler ties Rory McIlroy with a season-high three victories, all coming in his last four starts. This marks his third season on Tour with three or more victories (2022/4, 2024/7).
He joins Tiger Woods (1999-2001) as the only players to successfully defend their title at the Memorial Tournament. He is the first player to successfully defend a title on Tour since his 2024 Players Championship victory.
Following his 2025 PGA Championship victory, Scheffler also joins Woods as the only players to win the Memorial Tournament and The Players Championship or a major championship in the same season in multiple years: Scheffler (2024, 2025), Woods (1999, 2000, 2001).
He improves to 11-for-17 when holding the 54-hole lead/co-lead on Tour, having converted his last seven.
American Ben Griffin struggled on Sunday and made an eagle at the par-5 15th, three birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey at the par-4 17th for a 73. He collected his third career runner-up finish (2023 Sanderson Farms Championship, 2024 RBC Canadian Open) and third consecutive top-10 finish on Tour (T8/PGA Championship, Won/Charles Schwab Challenge, 2nd/the Memorial Tournament). After a first-round 7-under 65, Griffin played his next three rounds in a cumulative 1-over at Muirfield Village.
Austrian Sepp Straka fired four birdies and two bogeys for a 70 and third place at 5-under. This was his fifth top-10 finish in sixteen starts this season, tying his career-high in a single season on Tour (2021-22, 2022-23). He played the weekend in 8-under after starting 3-over.
Canada’s Nick Taylor finished fourth at 4-under having made four birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey at the par-4 14th. This was his third top-10 finish of the season and first since The Genesis Invitational (T9).
American Rickie Fowler finished T7 at 1-under and qualified for the 153rd Open at Royal Portrush through the Open Qualifying Series as the leading finisher, not otherwise exempt, from the Memorial Tournament. He broke a tie with Brandt Snedeker by virtue of his position in the Official World Golf Ranking entering the week (Fowler/No. 124, Snedeker/No. 430). Fowler collected his first top-10 finish in his 13th start of the 2025 season.
Of the four sponsor exemptions restricted to PGA Tour members, three finished inside the top 10: Rickie Fowler (T7), Jordan Spieth (T7), Brandt Snedeker (T7), Matt Kuchar (T25).
