Sam Burns closed with a 67 to reach 22-under and win at the Sanderson Farms Championship on Sunday. This second PGA Tour title follows his win at the Valspar Championship in the spring

Sanderson Farms 2021 R4

"It hasn't really set in yet. Still looking out there at the golf course like kind of trying to figure out what happened. Yeah, just very honored to win here, being so close to home it's only two and a half hours from where I live now and having friend and family here it's really cool and a special week and just really excited."

Sanderson Farms 2021 R4

Burns shot three birdies and a bogey on the front nine to make the turn in 34 and took the lead with birdies at the 11th and 13th before making two more at the 14th and 15th. He found the greeside bunker at 18 and with a two shot lead took a safe bogey for the win.

Sanderson Farms 2021 R4

Nick Watney produced a bogey-free 65, his best finish in over three years, to take a share of second place at 21-under alongside Cameron Young (68).

"I'm working on a lot of things," said Watney. "I'm back with Butch [Harmon], I love him, and so I'm working on my swing with him. I'm working on my mental game just trying to be really, really honest and authentic with myself."

Sanderson Farms 2021 R4

Sweden's Henrik Norlander joins the all-American top-7 in a share of fourth place at 20-under after a bogey-free 64.

"I'm pretty pleased," said Norlander. "I told myself, try to get to 20-under. I felt like I played really well yesterday and just sort of stalled out in the middle of the back nine. And I made two really bad bogeys on 15 and 16. And I don't know, I just felt like I've been playing really good all week and I made some really good putts today and hit a lot of great iron shots and hit a great putt on the last just went the other way.

"I just had five weeks off and I set a plan, I'm just sort of tired of not really getting all out of my game. I feel like I'm playing pretty well all last year and I ended up finishing 93rd on the FedExCup. So I just put a plan together and really executed at home the last two weeks, a lot of wedges, a lot of putting a lot of short game, areas where I've been struggling, and wasn't expecting to get results right away, but I hit better wedges than I ever have this week, so it's nice to get sort of some receipt on a good work. So I'm really excited going forward this fall."

Sanderson Farms 2021 R4

Hayden Buckley (66) and Trey Mullinax, both bogey-free, as well as Andrew Landry (66) join Norlander in fourth place.

Californian PGA Tour rookie Sahith Theegala who held the 54-hole lead shot three birdies to make the turn in 33 but three bogeys over the next four holes put paid to his chances at the title. He made another birdie at the 14th and parred the final four holes to close with a 71 and finished T8 at 19-under.

"It was a fantastic week," said Theegala. "I played some really good golf and just a little unfortunate how that sort of that back nine is, but it's my first one and first time really being in that position, so I'm obviously going to learn a lot and just take so many positives away and even the last few holes there I was proud of myself how I held it in there making a couple pars after I was already kind of out of contention, but overall fantastic week and just want to thank Steve Jent tournament director, he's putting on a great event and just glad I could come back.

Sanderson Farms 2021 R4

As a result of his finish he won't have to play in the Monday qualifier for the Shriners Children's Open in Las Vegas next week.

"Monday qualifiers are never fun, I've been down that road, so I'm glad I won't have to do that next week. It will be nice being close to home too, I can kind of reset a little bit, maybe even go home if necessary. But, yeah, it's going to be great, I'm probably going to take tomorrow off and kind of reset and I'm excited to get back at it, this makes me hungrier and hungrier.

"I think I'm going to talk with my coach and just look at some stuff, not get too in depth on it because I'm pretty, I think I know what I need to work on and what I need to do moving forward. But again I did so much good stuff this week and just try and build off the really good stuff and keep learning. A lot of it was mental today, it wasn't even my game at all. So knowing that it's pretty cool, but, yeah, it will be nice to have a day to kind of reflect over the week because it happened so quick."
