Carl Yuan carded a 65 to reach 9-under and a career-low 36-hole on the PGA TOUR of 131 for a share of the lead at the Sony Open in Hawaii.

The Chinese player moved from No. 126 to No. 125 in the FedExCup Fall and Eligibility Points List when Jon Rahm was removed from the list in December, earning full status on TOUR in 2024. He would otherwise not have been eligible for the Sony Open in Hawaii.

American Austin Eckroat shot a 66 for a share of the lead with his own career-low 36-hole score on the PGA TOUR.

South Korean Byeong Hun An, who finished fourth last week at The Sentry, shot a bogey-free 64 to tie for the lead, his sixth consecutive under-par round to start the 2024 season.

First-round leader Cam Davis of Australia carded a 70 and slipped down into a share of fourth place at 8-under alongside ten other players including last week's winner, American Chris Kirk.

Gary Woodland carded a second 71 and missed the cut in his first start on TOUR since the 2023 Wyndham Championship (T27) after undergoing surgery to extract a brain lesion.

Aon Swing 5

The Sony Open in Hawaii, the second event of the 2024 PGA TOUR Season and first Full-Field Event, marks the first opportunity for players to earn FedExCup points towards the Aon Swing 5.

The Aon Next 10 and Aon Swing 5 are eligibility pathways for players, not already qualified, to play their way into Signature Events via the FedExCup standings.

The top five players not otherwise exempt who earn the most FedExCup points during the Sony Open in Hawaii, The American Express and Farmers Insurance Open will qualify for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, while the top five players not otherwise exempt who earn the most FedExCup points during those three events and the WM Phoenix Open, will qualify for The Genesis Invitational.

The Aon Next 10 for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and The Genesis Invitational was determined through the FedExCup Fall standings.
