Valspar Championship 2022 R4
“I don’t think it’s really hit me yet. Such a cool day and to be able to go back-to-back feels really good, and I’m just really excited.”
With this victory, Burns moves into the top-10 of the World Rankings for the first time.

Valspar Championship 2022 R4
“I think, for me, I just try to put in hard work, just try to improve my game every year, every week, look at stats and see what areas I can get better at and then my team and I try to attack those areas. And that’s all I can control and so I mean, it’s nice to see that those things are paying off, it gives us motivation that we’re working on the right things.
“I just wanted to try to keep improving, I want to see what areas that lack and just try to make things better. That’s ultimately what I love to do.”

Burns played a final round 69 to close at 17-under with a 267 total and entered the playoff with rookie and overnight leader Davis Riley who overcame a triple bogey at the par-5 5th to close with a 72.
Both players parred the first extra hole at the 18th. On the second extra hole at the 16th, Riley’s pitch for par missed while Burns holed a 33-footer for the title.

Valspar Championship 2022 R4
“Very solid week,” said Riley. “A lot to build on. I can’t hang my head about anything. I played a lot of good golf and unfortunately I didn’t have my best stuff today and I stumbled on hole 5 today and that kind of cost me.
“But at the end of the day it’s a great week to build on and I’m looking forward to the next start.”
Justin Thomas (70) and Matthew NeSmith (71) tied for third place at 16-under.
Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick, the only non-American in the top-5, and Brian Harman both scored 68s to tie for fifth at 14-under.
