American Russell Henley increased his lead to four shots at the Wyndham Championship on Friday. He shot seven birdies and a single bogey at the par-3 12th for a 64.

His 14-under 126 (62-64) ties Stewart Cink's (63-63) at the RBC Heritage in April for the lowest 36-hole score this season.

Henley will be hoping to better his U.S. Open performance, where he co-led after 54 holes but closed with a 76 and finished T13.

"You have to do everything right. So it's kind of the same way except for I'm just mainly trying to keep committing to every shot off the tee and put myself in the fairway."

Olympic silver medallist Rory Sabbatini of Slovakia shot a 64 to tie his career low 36-hole score of 130. The last time was at the Shriner's Hospitals for Children's Open in 2003.

Sabbatini is tied in second place alongside Americans Webb Simpson (65) and Scott Piercy (66).

England's Justin Rose (65) and Americans Tyler Duncan (62) and Brian Stuard (66) are tied for fith at 9-under.

Sabbatini, Piercy and Rose started the week outside the top-125 in the FedExCup standings but have now qualified for next week's The Northern Trust.

“So far, so good for sure,” said Rose. “Objective number one is to make it to the Playoffs, but two, if you're playing well this week, I know I need to finish top-10, but at the same time there's no point limiting yourself to that kind of thinking at this point.

“Winning would go a long way to kind of feel like you can compete in the Playoffs. Listen, that's all way ahead of me, but tomorrow just kind of keep doing what I'm doing. I think this golf course suits good strategy and good patience, so those are some of the things I'm going to try to continue with over the weekend.”

Rickie Fowler on the other hand needed to finish 21st or better to keep his eleven season streak of making the Playoffs but missed the cut after rounds of 71 and 72.

"I know what I'm capable of, I've been up there and played against the best in the world and been a top-five, top-10 player in the world for a number of years in my career," said Fowler. "I'm not in a position where I'm comfortable or where I want to be."
