France’s Adrien Saddier played 36 holes on Friday at the weather affected Omega European Masters. He carded a first round bogey-free, 8-under 62 featuring an eagle at the par-5 15th and went on to make a single bogey for a second-round 65. He currently leads at 13-under with play suspended overnight and many players yet to start their second round.

“I’m pretty happy. It was a long day, to be honest,” said Saddier . “I got a good start this morning – the momentum was good on the first nine and then I just kept holing the putts.

“It was a good day and we like this kind of day. It was just nice to finish with a birdie.”

Defending champion Matt Wallace of England made one bogey and closed with a 63 to move into second place at 12-under.

“I had three great nines. I would put it that way,” said Wallace.

“The first nine this morning wasn’t very good but I managed to get it round and then I found something on the back nine. I played really nicely this afternoon.

“I said to myself a few times out there today that I’m the defending champion so let’s try to keep it that way.”

England’s Jordan Smith fired a 66 featuring an eagle at the 15th, three birdies and one bogey for a share of third place at 11-under alongside South African Thriston Lawrence who eagled the par-5 14th and made two bogeys for his 66.

Play will resume at 07:40 Saturday morning. Round 3 will not start before 14:30 local time.
