Thriston Lawrence started his final round with a one-shot lead but quickly lost it with three back-to-back bogeys. He quickly recovered however with an eagle at the par-4 6th followed by five birdies to close with a 4-under 66 and reach 22-under for the win at the Omega European Masters.
This is the fifth DP World Tour title for the South African including one previous win at the Omega European Masters in 2022.
“Winning is tough. It’s not easy,” said Lawrence. “I was so nervous all day. It always looks so easy but it’s not. I’m just so emotional, so happy. It’s been a grind all day.
“Obviously after that start – I tried to give the guys a chance there! But yeah, I’m just so proud of the way I fought out there.
“Credit to my team and all my sponsors. I’m just so happy.”
Defending champion Matt Wallace of England made five birdies and two bogeys to close with a 67 and finish T2 at 20-under.
Also finishing in second place were Finn Sami Välimäki who eagled the par-5 14th and made one bogey for a 65 and Dane Rasmus Højgaard who also eagled the 14th and made one bogey for a 62.
England’s Matt Fitzpatrick closed with a 67 featuring two bogeys to finish fifth at 19-under.
