“I think overall just going out there and enjoying myself, making sure I stay in the moment, committing to my golf shots. I have been working extremely hard on and off the course. Working with Martin Hall quite a bit, putting the work to the test and believing in it.”

Kupcho, whose 64 was bogey-free, has come second in each of the last three years on the LPGA Tour but is still looking for her maiden title.

“I think I’ve been distracted from golf ever since Solheim [Cup], moving into a house and trying to plan a wedding,” said Kupcho. “It was probably my best ball-striking week [at Solheim Cup] that I’ve ever had in my life, so definitely gave me confidence.

“I’m just hitting really good iron shots and getting myself in good position on the greens.”

Overnight leader Leona Maguire of Ireland shot a 68 and slipped back into a share of third place at 10-under alongside Taiwanese player Wei-Ling Hsu who stayed bogey-free for a 64.

South Korea’s Mi Hyang Lee matched the tournament record set by Maguire on Thursday with a 62 for a share of fifth place alongside four other players including compatriot Sei Young Kim (67) and World number 1 Nelly Korda (66).

Thailand’s Pavarisa Yoktuan made a hole-in-one with an 8-iron on the 145-yard 12th hole and won a two-year lease for a Lamborghini.
