Russell Henley closed with a 7-under 63 on Friday to reach 15-under and take a three-shot lead at the Sony Open in Hawaii.

The American started on the back nine with a birdie, a bogey and an eagle at the par-5 18th to make the turn in 33. He bogeyed the first before producing four birdies and closing with a 30-foot eagle putt at the par-5 9th.

“The front I started hitting a few more fairways and giving myself some good looks and executing there from 10 to 15 feet or less. Nice to finish like that. I don’t remember the last time I had two eagles in the same round, but it’s definitely exciting.”

Haotong Li of China lies in second place after carding a 65 followed by American Matt Kuchar who signed for a bogey-free 65.

Overnight leader and defending champion Kevin Na followed up his opening 61 with a 71 and slipped down into a share of sixteenth place at 8-under.
