Patrick Cantlay is the first player to win back-to-back BMW Championships since the FedEx Cup started in 2007. He is also the first player to defend a FedEx Cup playoff title and moves to second in the standings.
“I think every time I’ve tried to defend, I don’t think I’ve been able to do it, but it’s something that you definitely circle on your calendar as something you want to do.”

Cantlay now heads to East Lake hoping to successfully defend his Tour Championship title, a feat that has never been achieved.
“I’m in a really good spot. It’ll be a little different type of a challenge this year, obviously, being two behind Scottie [Scheffler]. He’s played a lot of great golf this year, so I expect the same. But it’s a golf course I really like, and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

The American took the lead with a birdie at the par-4 17th thanks to a lucky bounce to close with a 69 and win by one shot at 14-under
“I thought hitting it on that line, it would for sure be in a bunker. Got an excellent break. Maybe one of the best breaks I’ve gotten coming down the stretch, and when you get a break like that you need to pay it off, and fortunately I did.”
BMW Championship 2022 R4
Scott Stallings, who last won at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in 2014, finished second at 13-under. He moves on to the Tour Championship for the first time.
Fellow Americans Scottie Scheffler (70) and Xander Schauffele (71) tied for third place at 11-under.
Australian Adam Scott closed with a 71 for a share of fifth place at 10-under alongside South Korean K.H. Lee (65) and Canadian Corey Conners (69) at 10-under.
Scott will also start in the Tour Championship for the first time in twelve years on Tour.
