Angel Hidalgo carded a bogey-free 63 to take a share of the lead at 9-under in the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters.
“I started the day hitting it so badly on the range, but I just tried to put the ball in the fairway on the first few holes and started to take some confidence. I made every putt today and that was the key,” said the Spaniard.
“The support was amazing. It’s the first time I’ve played with so many people following me. I was a bit nervous at times, but it was a great feeling.
“A 63 is a dream score and I’m so happy.”
Overnight co-leader Min Woo Lee shot 67 to retain a share of the lead.
“It was a bit of a grind at the end,” said Lee. “I made a lot of up-and-downs, it wasn’t easy.
“The greens got a little bumpy and the wind switched around. I played really good – front nine was solid, made a nice eagle on four, which was probably the highlight of the day. A lot of up-and-downs on the back nine.”
They were joined by Spain’s Adrian Otaegui who started his round with three consecutive birdies and closed with a 66.
Sweden‘s Joakim Lagergren (67) lies in fourth place at 6-under followed by Scotland‘s Robert MacIntyre (70) and Sebastián García Rodríguez (69) in fifth at 5-under.
