Australian Minjee Lee started the day seven shots behind Korean leader Jeongeun Lee6 (71) and produced seven birdies in the final round to close at 18-under, joining Lee6 in a playoff for the Amundi Evian Championship.

Lee6 dropped a shot on the first extra hole when her second shot found the water while Lee's landed near the flag.

Lee6 bogeyed the hole and Lee won her sixth LPGA title and first major victory.

"It's really great to win a major, it's really amazing," said Lee.

Minjee Lee is now eligible to win the 2021 Rolex ANNIKA Major Award which recognizes the player who, during a current LPGA Tour season, has the most outstanding record in all five major championships. Points are awarded at all five major championships to competitors who finish among the top-10 and ties. To take home the award, a player must also win at least one of the five majors.

Nelly Korda tops the leaderboard followed by Patty Tavatanakit. Lee is tied alongside Yuka Saso in third place.

American Yealimi Noh closed with a 61 narrowly missing out on joining the playoff when she missed a birdie chance at the final hole.

“Definitely disappointed. I missed a lot of short putts. I'm going to be fine, but I should be happy with this result and a lot of positives to take away from it.

"Just sucks because I didn't birdie a single par-5 and I had a lot of six-foot putts coming down [the stretch].

Solo third is her career-best result and her first top-10 finish in a major championship.

Ireland's Leona Maguire played the day's best round with a 10-under 61, tying the lowest round by a player, male or female, in a major, as Lee6 did in the second round.

Japan's Ayaka Furue closed with a 67 for fourth place at 15-under, one ahead of Atthaya Thitikul who shot 65.

Maguire tied for sixth place alongside former Evian champion Lydia Ko (70), Georgia Hall (64) and In Gee Chun (70) at 13-under.
