Charles Schwab 2022 R1

May 26-29
Colonial Country Club, Fort Worth, Texas
$8,400,000
Round 2, Round 3, Round 4

Rolex Ranking World Number 1 Scottie Scheffler, after missing last week's cut, is back at the top of the leaderboard this week alongside seven others after carding a bogey-free 4-under 66.

“ I thought it played good," said Scheffler. "The course is playing harder than it does in a typical year here. I felt like I did a really good job of managing myself around the golf course. Anytime you make no bogeys, it's going to be a good round."

"I was very frustrated obviously with how last week ended. You never want to miss a cut. I hadn't missed a cut in a while up to that point, so I think it makes it even more frustrating just knowing that I was playing really good golf and I just didn't have it that week. That stuff happens. If I didn't like bad draws or making crazy mistakes and stuff like that, I would have played a different sport. A lot of weird stuff happens in golf.

"So for me it's just one week, and I hate missing cuts, but it's good. ”

Fellow Americans Patrick Reed, Webb Simpson, Harold Varner III, Chris Kirk and Beau Hossler as well as Canadian Nick Taylor and Australian Cameron Davis join him in the lead although none remained bogey-free.

"Early on I hit a lot of really quality iron shots and great iron shots, just didn't quite capitalize on all the putts I should have," said Reed.

"As a whole you keep giving yourself opportunities, you're going to make putts. I feel like except for hole 9, the hard holes I played really well and had very good looks.

"To go around and birdie all four of the par-3s always helps. I was able to attack the par-3s today and I was able to go around there in 4-under, and I think that really helps kind of leading into the week and leading into the day because there's some demanding holes out there."

Seven players share ninth place at 3-under and ten are tied in 16th at 2-under defending champion Jason Kokrak and Jordan Spieth among them.
