Marco Penge started the day one shot behind Rasmus Højgaard’s lead at the Danish Golf Championship and fired five birdies and one bogey to close with a 67 and win by one shot at 16-under.

This is the Englishman’s second DP World Tour title following the Hainan Classic in April.

“I’ve been playing so well this year,” said Penge. “My main goal after I won was to not get complacent and drop off basically. My team have been a massive support for me, my family, everyone involved really.

“It’s made me keep striving for more and this is amazing. And Rasmus, he’s some player, to hit the shot he hit into the last and make eagle and basically make me have to win it was unbelievable.

“We were both pushing as hard as we could and I was the winner at the end of the day, but I’ve loved every minute of playing two round of golf with him.”

Højgaard carded a colourful round featuring two eagles at the par-4 3rd and par-5 18th as well as three birdies, three bogeys and one double bogey at the par-3 9th for a 69. The Dane, who won in 2023, finished second at 15-under.

England’s Ben Schmidt made one bogey and closed with a 68 to finish third at 12-under followed one shot further behind by a bogey-free Mikael Lindberg of Sweden and Italian Gregorio de Leo who made three bogeys for 68s.
