Yurav Premlall wins maiden DP World Tour title by huge margin

Yurav Premlall of South Africa plays a shot on the 12th hole on day three of the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship 2026

Yurav Premlall started the day with a 5-shot lead at the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship and stormed to his maiden DP World Tour title with ten birdies and a single bogey for a 63 to reach 28-under and win by fourteen shots.

He fell just short of breaking the record for the largest winning margin on the DP World Tour of 15 shots set by Tiger Woods 26 years ago but he did set a new record for the winning margin for a maiden title on Tour.

His 63 on Saturday also earned the South African the $50,000 reward for the Course Record presented by Nexo.

“No words,” said the South African. “I’ve worked so hard to get into this position and it’s so rewarding to finally see the results of it.

“I mean the last eight, nine months have been such a struggle just to build myself onto a platform where I know I could give myself a chance to win and to end up obviously in this position.

“I’m just so grateful so it’s a dream come true.

“I’ll start with my mum – at least it’s a Mother’s Day present so happy Mother’s Day, mum! And yeah, for my dad we worked so hard to get here.

“There’s not much else I can say. I mean my whole team, support structure, all my family. It’s so rewarding to stand up on this pedestal and be able to thank everyone for being part of this journey so far.”

Fellow South African Shaun Norris fired six birdies and two bogeys for a 68 and finished second at 14-under.

JC Ritchie, also of South Africa, made three birdies and two bogeys for a 71 and a share of third place at 13-under alongside Spain’s Alejandro del Rey who made just one bogey for a 68 and France’s Oihan Guillamoundeguy who closed with a trio of birdies and made two bogeys in his 67.
