Ludvig Åberg started the day with his first career 18-hole lead/co-lead at 9-under and produced two birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey at the par-4 14th at the South Course for a 75 to retain a share of the Farmers Insurance Open lead at 6-under.
American Lanto Griffin, also playing the South Course, made three birdies and three bogeys for a 72 to join Åberg in the lead.
Griffin finished No. 158 in the 2024 FedExCup Fall standings after logging one top-10 in 22 starts. He improved his status for the 2025 season by winning at Final Stage of PGA Tour Q-School.
American rookie Danny Walker closed with a 74 after making five birdies and seven bogeys to move into solo third place at 5-under. He currently leads all players with 12 birdies overall and will notch his first made cut on Tour in his fourth career start.
Hayden Springer (75, SC) and Chris Gotterup (69, NC) from the USA are tied in fourth place at 4-under alongside Korean Sungjae Im (71, NC).
When play was suspended, Gotterup, Jackson Suber (T14,-2) and Jason Day (T26,-1) were tied for the low round of the day with matching 3-under 69s. Gotterup and Day played the North Course, while Suber played the South Course.
Play was suspended due to strong winds at 2:05 p.m. PT. The second round resumed at 3:31 p.m. (delay of 1 hour, 26 minutes) and was suspended again due to darkness at 5:15 p.m with 29 players yet to complete the round. The second round is scheduled to resume Friday at 7:30 a.m. Approximate round three starting times will be 9:30-11:30 a.m. off Nos. 1 and 10 tees in groups of three.
