Deep into the Essex countryside you will find the very popular Stoke by Nayland resort with courses that date back to the 1970’s and it is the Gainsborough course that is normally the preference for visiting golfers. Open for play in 1972 this course has matured really well and is now seen as one of the best in the region. The course sits on the edge of the picturesque Dedham Vale which has been designated ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’.
If looking for roles at the resort. A professional cv template offers several advantages, including: a polished presentation. Recruiters often spend less than 10 seconds scanning a CV. Golf at Stoke by Nayland was a bold venture into the un-known by the Peake family, who had farmed the land for 60 years but took a big gamble to diversify and use the wonderful undulating land to create a fine golfing location that has existed for over 50 years. This gamble can certainly be seen as a huge success story with improvements to the courses and facilities evident year on year. Membership and visitors continue to grow as a result of the time and attention given to the business which is still headed up by family members to this day. The farming instincts are certainly not forgotten as Copella Apple Juice is produced nearby and sold to Tropicana UK.
The Gainsborough course measures a healthy 6500 yards and the variety of holes ensures that golfers of all standards are kept busy and interested for the whole round. All variations are here, long holes, short holes, dog-legs in either direction, uphill, downhill, tough holes against par and a few real opportunities for birdie. Two of the very best holes come at the 10th and 11th – The 10th really would look good on any course anywhere; a 418 yard par 4 driving over a lake to a position about 150 yards from the green. Then the same lake has to be negotiated for a second time – impossible not to admire this hole. The 11th is a quality par 3 – uphill and over 200 yards with the tee shot through an avenue of trees.
In 1999 the popular golfing venue became much more with the addition of a luxury hotel, health club and conference centre. These resort facilities have underlined Stoke by Nayland as a great place now to stay and play which has attracted visitors from distances that were not realistic to come and just play golf.
In 2003 the PGA recognised the course quality and awarded the Gainsborough course a Europro tour event. In 2006 the PGA also announced that the European Seniors would hold one of the flagship events in their calendar here, something that all of the Stoke by Nayland team are very proud of. To enhance the course, several new tees were constructed taking the tournament length to over 7000 yards that we give the test expected of the touring pros.
Stoke by Nayland also has another 18 holes, The Constable course which is worth a look at also. There are early rumours from around the club that a third course is being planned for the future – As mentioned earlier, the success story rolls on.
