Connor Syme fired an eagle at the par-5 3rd hole as well as three birdies, including two at the final holes, to close with a bogey-free 66, reach 10-under and take a two-shot lead ahead of the final day at the KLM Open.
“So, so good,” said the Scot. “Buzzing with that. Obviously a bonus to finish with a couple [of birdies] towards the end but overall really, really pleased.
“Obviously there’s a bit of a gap at the moment for me and Joakim. But with the weather tomorrow it can change so much, so quickly, so I’m just trying to do the best I can on every shot. I know that’s so cliche but that’s my goal.
“I’ve been in this situation a few times now, which have all been so different. It’s really tough to win out here, I’ve obviously given myself a good position a few times and tomorrow’s another great opportunity.
“I would love to do it, obviously, hopefully I can play my game tomorrow and I can do it. Overall I think that’s thinking too far ahead, I’ll just try to play one shot at a time and get that mindset from the start, and what will be will be.”
Sweden’s Joakim Lagergren who held the overnight lead made three birdies and three bogeys for an even-par 71 and moved down into second place at 8-under.
Italy’s Francesco Laporta made five birdies and three bogeys to close with a 69 to take a share of third place at 4-under alongside Scotland’s Richie who made three birdies and three bogeys for a 71 Ramsay and Portugal’s Ricardo Gouveia whose three birdies were overcome by three bogeys and a double bogey at the par-4 5th for a 73.
