Haotong Li started strong with three consecutive birdies from the first hole and closed with a 5-under 67 to take the lead in the Porsche European Open.

"I think I hit a lot of solid iron shots. My approaches were really good today. I had a lot of birdies on the tough holes as well," said Li.
"I didn’t know (I had a fast start). I just tried to play my golf and my game. I enjoyed it out there.
"It’s a very tough course. It’s super long. A lot of par fives and long par fours. It’s going to be a great test this week."

Sweden's Joakim Lagergren in contrast made his first birdie at the 9th and joined the Chinese player in the lead after a back nine that featured four birdies, two bogeys and an eagle at the 15th.
"I’m very pleased. It’s a really tough course. It’s a long one and you don’t get any roll on the fairways at all," said Lagergren.
"A lot of mid-irons into the greens, so minus five on this course, in any condition is good, but even better today."

Wil besseling of the Netherlands closed in solo third place with a 68 in spite of a bogey and double bogey at the 16th and 17th.
Behind him at 3-under, last week's winner Frenchman Victor Perez is part of a seven-way tie alongside compatriots Julien Guerrier, Benjamin Hebert and Julien Brun as well as Italy's Andrea Pavan, Dutchman Daan Huizing and Spain's Adri Arnaus.
