The International Team won all five Friday Foursomes matches at Medinah, overturning a 3-2 deficit to lead the United States 7-3 at the Presidents Cup.
For the second straight Presidents Cup, the Internationals have swept the Friday alternate-shot session. It was only their third session sweep in the event’s history.
“It’s hard to imagine,” said International Team Captain Geoff Ogilvy after the session. “We just wanted to come win the session. They were all in a really good frame of mind, but you would never imagine doing five sets.”

Five wins from five pairings
Sungjae Im and Hideki Matsuyama took the first point, beating Russell Henley and Jacob Bridgeman 3&2. Nick Taylor and Corey Conners followed with a 1 up win over Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns. Adam Scott and Christiaan Bezuidenhout then defeated Justin Thomas and Cameron Young 3&2.
Ryan Fox and Min Woo Lee were 1 down to Collin Morikawa and Wyndham Clark with four holes remaining. The International pair birdied the 15th and 16th, with Fox holing the putt at 16, and won the match 1 up.
Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim completed the sweep with a 4&3 victory over Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele, whom they had also beaten on Thursday. Si Woo Kim said their similar yardages help when choosing clubs in Foursomes.
“I think we play exactly the same, and then the yardage, we know each other really well,”said Si Woo Kim. “His numbers are my numbers pretty much, so I can copy and he can give me an opinion about the club selection.”

Montreal’s Saturday reversal
The Internationals also swept Friday’s Foursomes in 2024 at Royal Montreal. On that occasion, it only brought them level at 5-5 after an American sweep on Thursday. The US then won six of eight matches on Saturday and went on to take the Cup 18½-11½.
Scott, making a record 12th Presidents Cup appearance, has that turnaround in mind.
“Hopefully we learned from that, and we can back a great day up tomorrow,” he said.
The 7-3 scoreline is the Internationals’ largest lead after two sessions since the Presidents Cup moved to a four-day format in 2000. Eight matches await on Saturday, and 20 points remain in the competition. “There’s a lot of golf left,” Scott said.
Format
• The Presidents Cup is a four-day, match play event with 30 total matches, comprised of a 12-person US Team and 12-person
International Team
• All matches are worth one point, for a total of 30 points; there are no playoffs, with each side receiving a half point if a match is
tied after 18 holes
• In a change inspired by the events of the 2003 Presidents Cup, if the match is deadlocked at the end of Singles play, the
competition will be deemed a tie and the teams will share the Presidents Cup
• The team that earns the most points after four days of competition wins the Presidents Cup
– Thursday: Five matches total, Four-ball (best ball)
– Friday: Five matches total, Foursomes (alternate shot)
– Saturday: Eight matches total, Four-ball (morning) and Foursomes (afternoon)
– Sunday: Twelve matches total, Singles
