- SYNLawn UK completed golf installations at The Grove, Trump Turnberry, Aphrodite Hills Resort and Basingstoke Golf Club this summer.
- Every tee on Trump’s Twelve, Turnberry’s 12-hole par-three course, now has a synthetic hitting area.
- The Aphrodite Hills academy tee line is the company’s first project in Cyprus.
SYNLawn UK has finished a run of summer projects covering a fitting centre, a par-three course and two club academies. The installations are at The Grove, Trump Turnberry, Aphrodite Hills Resort in Cyprus and Basingstoke Golf Club.
“At The Grove, the focus is on testing and fitting, as well as leisure. At Turnberry, it is about managing wear on a busy par-three course. At Aphrodite Hills, we have delivered a substantial academy tee line in a climate where water use is an important consideration,” said chief executive Michael Walker.
The Kingdom at The Grove
TaylorMade’s testing and fitting facility now has SYNLawn surfaces in its indoor studios and outdoor practice grounds. The installation includes Precision Putt putting surfaces, Classic Chip short-game areas, Tee Strike and Tee Strike+ hitting systems, and target greens built to give bounce, check and roll. In a fitting environment, consistent club interaction and ball response are what make detailed performance analysis possible. The Walled Garden at The Grove, a high-traffic area, has also been surfaced.

Trump’s Twelve at Turnberry
The 12-hole par-three course opened in August on the old Arran Course ground, with holes from 70 to 206 yards. SYNLawn UK has put a synthetic hitting area at the back of every tee box. Repeated iron and wedge shots concentrate divots on short-course tees. The synthetic strip lets the greenkeepers rest the grass while every hole still has a dependable place to tee off.
Aphrodite Hills, Cyprus
The company’s first Cyprus job is a TeeStrike+ tee line at the resort’s new PGA National Golf Academy, which sits alongside a 28-bay TrackMan Range, the first on the island. SYNLawn UK says it is its longest continuous TeeStrike+ tee line in Europe. The surface needs no irrigation, which takes a stretch of practice turf off the watering schedule during Mediterranean summers. The resort has since been adding robotic mowers to its PGA National Cyprus course.
The 1907 Academy at Basingstoke
Basingstoke’s academy was the final piece of the club’s move to Dummer and opened on 2 May. It pairs SYNLawn hitting, putting and short-game surfaces with materials from Build With Hemp. The building uses more than five tonnes of hemp-based materials, English oak and a rainwater-fed living wall in its 11 indoor bays. The club will host the 2027 Girls’ and Boys’ Home Internationals from August 2-5.

From TGL to the back garden
The wider SYNLawn brand is the Official Synthetic Surface Partner of TGL, the league founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. The same product range goes into academies, clubs and private homes, from residential putting greens and simulator rooms to large commercial practice grounds. The company says it picks each surface for its intended use, whether that is ball roll, receiving approach shots or standing up to repeated club strikes.
Walker said the finished projects now serve as reference sites for clubs considering their own plans.
“They can see them working in a fitting centre, on a golf course and within an academy, and assess how those applications relate to their own plans. We are building on that experience as we develop our work across the UK and wider EMEA region,” he said.
