Tommy Fleetwood and Tom Hoge still held the lead as the first round concluded and the second got underway on Saturday afternoon, 54 hours after it started.

Their first round scores were posted on Thursday before play was suspended due to the weather. Others had to finish, or even play their entire rounds, on Saturday with play delayed further due to heavy wind with gusts of close to 40mph.

The average score for the second round, before play was suspended due to darkness, was 75.4, making it one of the ten hardest rounds since the event moved to TPC Sawgrass 40 years ago.
“You catch some gusts, and you play, I guess, the wrong shot, the wrong gust, and you make some numbers,” said Brooks Koepka, who made two double-bogeys and a triple at the par-3 17th to close with an 81.

Bubba Watson 6(8) and Justin Thomas (69) fared better and managed to remain bogey-free moving into a share of 15th place at 3-under with all the players above them on the leaderboard yet to finish or start their second round.
“It's one of those days I think could be really fun to play if you're home,” said Thomas. “It's not really fun when it's TPC Sawgrass for The Players, and you're kind of around the cut line to start the day. It's so hard.
“It's really hard to make even 2-, 3-, 4-footers with that wind.”
