Martin Couvra started the day with a share of the lead and shot a bogey-free 66 on Friday to reach 11-under and retain the solo lead at the Turkish Airlines Open.
“I’m really happy about my game today – it’s always good to have a bogey-free round,” said the Frenchman, who recorded a hat-trick of birdies from the seventh, with the highlight a tap-in at the ninth after a stunning approach.
“I just try to keep the same mindset on the golf course.
“My iron game was pretty good today and I made some putts at good moments.”
Couvra graduated from the HotelPlanner Tour last year and has recorded four top-ten finishes so far in his rookie season on the DP World Tour, including a fifth place finish at the Hainan Classic two weeks ago.
South African Wilco Nienaber made one bogey and seven birdies for a 65 and moved into second place at 9-under.
China’s Haotong Li also carded a 65 and remained bogey-free to move into third place at 8-under.
Germany’s Tiger Christensen and South Africa’s Robin Williams both started the day with a share of the lead and went on to card 70s after both making two bogeys. They are currently tied in fourth place at 7-under alongside England’s Todd Clements and Germany’s Yannik Paul who both recorded 68s.
