Adrian Otaegui started the day five shots off the lead and fired an eagle at the par-4 4th as well as eight birdies and one bogey for a 9-under 62 and takes a one-shot lead at 16-under into the final day at the Volvo China Open.

“It’s been a very nice day. You know, bit of everything,” said the Emirati. “Started very nicely with a very good birdie on the first.

“Then a beautiful hole out on hole number four for eagle, and then just played very well on the front nine, finished the front nine with three birdies for five under. And then I just kept going, made some very nice birdies on 10 and 11, both three footers.

“Then a very nice chip-in on 16. And 17, 18 were a bit of a fight, but I managed to save a very nice par on 17, which almost felt like a birdie.

“It was a very, very positive day.”

Austrian Bernd Wiesberger who held a share of the overnight lead shot five birdies and two bogeys for a 68 and moved down into second place at 15-under.

South African Shaun Norris also started the day with a share of the lead but carded four birdies and four bogeys to move down into third place at 12-under.

First-round leader Alejandro Del Rey of Spain made four birdies, one bogey and a double bogey at the par-4 6th for a 70 and fourth place at 11-under.

18-year-old Yanhan Zhou who had impressed over the first three rounds and is aiming for a 12th title on home soil as a professional fired four birdies, two bogeys and double bogeys at the par-3 5th and par-4s 9th and 15th to close with a 78 and move down into T32 at 4-under.
