Bernd Wiesberger carded a bogey-free, 4-under 67 featuring three birdies in four holes just after the turn to reach 19-under and win the Volvo China Open by three shots.

“It’s been a tough couple of years,” said the Austrian. “An unbelievable week.

“I played my heart out today, it wasn’t pretty at times but I got it done.

“Adrian [Otaegui] is a great competitor and had it under control, but something happened on that tenth hole that I can’t explain. That’s how golf goes sometimes.

“I’m super proud of sticking through hard times on the golf course lately, but this is for everyone at home and couldn’t be happier.

“Everyone is watching and super excited now, and it changes my next couple of years a little bit. It gets me into the Rolex Series events again and that’s huge.”

Otaegui, who held the overnight lead, fired four birdies in his first eleven holes before making two bogeys and a double bogey at the par-5 18th. The Emirati finished second at 16-under.

Sweden’s Mikael Lindberg fired seven birdies, one bogey and a double bogey at the par-4 14th to finish third at 14-under followed one shot further back by South African Shaun Norris who made six birdies, two bogeys and a triple bogey at the par-5 3rd for a 70.
