Sepp Straka made an eagle at the par-5 5th as well as three birdies and three bogeys to close with a 68, reach 16-under and win the Truist Championship.
“It’s not the best ball striking week I’ve had. Off the tee the first two days, I hit it terrible. I felt like I had the high odds going out with the driver the second round,” said Straka.
“Made a little bit of, kind of a tweak with my takeaway, just a little sequence thing. From then on, striking it really well with the driver.
“Iron play was decent. I wouldn’t say it was great, but the putter was just excellent this week. I didn’t miss above the hole very often and was able to kind of take advantage of that with putting. Made a lot of midrange putts, and that’s something you have to do when you want to win a golf tournament.”
He finished second in Strokes Gained: Putting (8.660) after entering the week ranked 63rd this season.
Straka successfully converted his second of three 54-hole leads/co-leads this season having won at The American Express.
This was the Austrian’s fourth career PGA Tour victory in his 180th start at the age of 32.
Straka becomes the second multiple winner during the 2025 PGA Tour Season following Rory McIlroy (AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, The Players Championship, The Masters).
“This year has been pretty good to me. Just really grateful for all the hard work from the people that don’t get to stand on that 18th green and celebrate.
“The whole team, my wife, just the stuff that she does every day for me to be able to do this. My parents that sacrificed pretty much every trip — they didn’t take trips without golf trips. It was really special to get this win. Yeah, just really grateful for the people in my life that allowed me to play golf this way.”
He has finished T15 or better five times in the first six Signature Events this season (T15/The Sentry, T7/The Sentry, T5/Arnold Palmer Invitational, T13/RBC Heritage, Won/Truist Championship).
Overnight co-leader Shane Lowry of Ireland bogeyed two of his final three holes for an even-par 70 and finished in a share of second place at 14-under. He led the field in Strokes Gained: Approach the Green (6.720) after entering the week ranked 11th this season.
American Justin Thomas made one bogey for a 67 and collected his 10th career runner-up finish on Tour and third of 2025 (The American Express, Valspar Championship), the most of any player on Tour this season.
Fellow Americans Patrick Cantlay and Jacob Bridgeman as well as England’s Tommy Fleetwood all carded 65s to finish T4 at 12-under.
Cantlay collected his third top-five finish in 10 starts this season (T5/The American Express, T5/The Genesis Invitational).
Second-year PGA Tour member Jacob Bridgeman led the field in Strokes Gained: Putting (9.671), holing 531 feet, 4 inches worth of putts, the ninth-most all time in the ShotLink era (since 2003). He claimed his third top-five finish of the season after qualifying for the Truist Championship by virtue of his position below the top 10 in the Aon Next 10 standings in order to fill the field to 72 players.
In his 154th start on Tour, Fleetwood collected his 26th career top-five finish, the second-most of any player without a victory (Bobby Wadkins/29).
