Maiden title for rookie Kristoffer Reitan

Truist Championship R4

Kristoffer Reitan of Norway plays his second shoot on the sixteenth hole on day two of the Open de España

Kristoffer Reitan started the day one stroke behind the lead and fired four birdies and two bogeys for a 2-under 69 to reach 15-under and win the Truist Championship by two strokes.

This first PGA Tourvictory came in his 15th start at the age of 28. He becomes the second player from Norway to win on the Tour, joining seven-time winner Viktor Hovland.

“I don’t have any words, to be honest. This is way more than I expected and for it to happen this quickly is just unreal. Yeah, a dream come true,” said Reitan.

His best finish in 11 prior starts this season was T2 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans (with teammate Kris Ventura). His previous-best finish in an individual stroke play was T10 at the Valero Texas Open.

Reitan was a two-time winner on the DP World Tour, with both wins coming last year. He earned PGA Tour membership for the first time by finishing inside the top 10 of the DP World Tour’s 2025 Race to Dubai. He earned his spot in the field at the Truist Championship through the Aon Swing 5 standings (No. 5).

American Rickie Fowler finished second at 13-under after carding eight birdies and two bogeys for a 65. He is the only player with top-10 finishes in each of the last four Signature Events (T9/Arnold Palmer Invitational, T8/RBC Heritage, T9/Cadillac Championship, T2/Truist Championship). The six-time Tour winner (including his first win at the 2012 Truist Championship) now has 16 runner-up finishes in 377 starts.

In search of his first PGA Tour victory in his 67th start, Dane Nicolai Højgaard finished runner-up for the second time this season (Texas Children’s Houston Open) and the fifth time overall after a final-round 68 featuring five birdies and two bogeys.

54-hole leader Alex Fitzpatrick of England made four birdies, two bogeys and double bogeys at the par-4 3rd and par-3 17th and signed for a 73 to finish solo-fourth at 12-under, marking his third straight top-10 finish (Zurich Classic of New Orleans/1st, Cadillac Championship/T9, Truist Championship/4th).

Four-time winner Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland made six birdies and two bogeys for a 67 and finished T19 at 5-under. He ranked first in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee (4.192) and 65th out of 72 players in Strokes Gained: Around the Green (-3.475). He has now had 13 top-20 finishes in 15 starts at the event.

Cumulative Green Mile (Nos. 16-18) statistics: the field was -396 on Nos. 1-15 and +214 on Nos. 16-18.
