Canada’s Taylor Pendrith shot a second round 61 marred only by a bogey at the par-3 13th to take a one-shot lead at 11-under on a calmer day in the Butterfield Bermuda Championship at Port Royal.

“Yesterday was some of the worst weather I’ve ever played in and just almost like surviving out there. Didn’t really matter how you hit it, you just have to hit shots. Today was a completely different story and could actually enjoy the views of Bermuda, so it was great.
“I think I made a lot of nice putts today and I drove it really well. I put myself in some good positions on the greens to make some birdies and the putter was hot. I had a lot of one-putts today, which is always good.”

“Got off to a great start and then made the turn. Made eagle on 17 and had a good look on 18. And I got five in a row I guess on the front nine, gave me some momentum and the putter was hot, saw some putts go in. Seemed like everything had a chance to go in.”
Pendrith, who got married two weeks ago, is in his rookie season on the PGA Tour and has made the cut in all three of his starts.

American Patrick Rodgers shot a 64 to move into second place at 10-under followed by compatriot Vincent Whaley (67) in third place at 9-under.
“I’ve never seen Bermuda this calm, at least here at Port Royal,” said Rodgers. “I felt like it was a round where we needed to take advantage of it and I just did a great job of staying patient and giving myself a ton of opportunities. I didn’t feel like I was overly aggressive at any point today and I just kind of plodded along. I think I hit 17 greens, so I just kept giving myself chance after chance and it added up to a great day.
“Yesterday was a challenge. Obviously it was a little more scorable as the day went on, but you sort of learn to expect that kind of breeze out here. Yeah, today obviously was much more scorable, but just good patient ball control both rounds and I’m really pleased about that.”
.@PRodgersGolf had to play in the @KornFerryTour Finals last season to keep his TOUR card after finishing 128th in the #FedExCup.

New Zealand’s Danny Lee and England’s David Skinns both shot 67 to tie for fourth place at 8-under.
“Definitely where I’m at is a very good spot to be in after first two rounds,” said Lee. “It was definitely at lot more gettable today than yesterday. Yesterday was, it was hard to walk on some of the holes. It was definitely a lot easier today, I just made a couple silly mistakes on the first nine holes and I wasn’t, I was hitting a lot of good putts, I just didn’t make anything until I holed it out from 90 yards on No., it was my back nine, so No. 5. I was just grinding it out out there. I haven’t seen the weekend in a while, so I was just trying to make the cut and all of a sudden after that hole-out on No. 5, everything just went smoothly.”
