Michael Brennan won the Wyndham Championship with a closing 6-under 64, securing his second PGA Tour title and qualifying for the FedExCup Playoffs in the final regular-season event.

The 24-year-old finished at 22-under 258 at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, three strokes ahead of Beau Hossler. His total matched the tournament’s 72-hole record at Sedgefield, most recently recorded by Cameron Young in 2025.

Brennan entered the regular-season finale ranked 105th in the FedExCup standings. Victory lifted him to No. 47, inside the top-70 who qualified for the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis.

Five Birdies Change the Tournament

Brennan trailed Hossler by one stroke when he began a run of five consecutive birdies from the fourth hole. Every birdie putt came from inside eight feet. His approach play repeatedly left him with manageable chances.

Hossler bogeyed the ninth, leaving Brennan three ahead at the turn. Brennan protected that advantage on the inward nine before birdieing the 18th to complete the lowest 72-hole total of his PGA Tour career.

The performance followed two difficult Sundays. Brennan began the final round of the 3M Open four strokes behind before shooting 74, then closed with a 73 from the final group at the Rocket Classic to tie for 15th.

“I don’t want to be done playing golf,” Brennan said. “Unfortunately, I’ve had a couple of tough Sundays. Outside of that, I had been playing really solid. This is my sixth week in a row. I’m perfectly happy running on fumes next week.”

The victory came in Brennan’s 29th PGA Tour start. He claimed his first title at the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship after entering on a sponsor exemption, becoming the seventh player on record to win within his first three Tour starts.

The win also secures another Masters invitation having made his Augusta National debut in 2026.

Koivun Holds the Final Playoff Position

Brennan was the only player to move into the top-70 during the final regular-season event. Steven Fisk missed the cut and dropped from No. 69 to No. 71.

Jackson Koivun retained the 70th and final position despite closing with a 71 and tying for 29th. The 3M Open winner finished eight FedExCup points clear of elimination after finding the fairway at the 18th and making par with Matt Wallace and Davis Thompson still able to displace him.

Koivun turned professional in June after leaving Auburn and joined the Tour through PGA Tour University Accelerated. He is the first graduate of that route to reach the playoffs in the same season he joined the Tour.

Hossler needed to win to qualify but finished No. 72 after his runner-up result. Wallace ended at No. 73 despite rounds of 64 and 65 over the weekend.

Brooks Koepka also missed the postseason after tying for 67th. The five-time major champion needed a fourth-place finish but struggled on the greens and finished the season with one top-10 result.

Ben James produced Sunday’s lowest round, a bogey-free 61 that carried the PGA Tour University No. 1 to third place at 18-under. The FedEx St. Jude Championship begins Thursday, with Brennan starting the playoffs at No. 47.
