Round 1 suspended due to fog

126th US Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club

Thick fog halted the opening round of the 2026 US Open at Shinnecock Hills in Southampton, New York, about 30 minutes after play began.

The delay hit a star-studded field that included Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler, with only 14 players posting scores and none making a birdie before the suspension. Officials had already prepared for strong afternoon winds and had taken measures to keep the greens playable.
