Miyu Yamashita Takes Share of TPC Boston Lead Days After Record Win

The Japanese star remained at the top of an LPGA leaderboard after her nine-shot victory in Canada, while Allisen Corpuz and Hyo Joo Kim moved alongside her.

Miyu Yamashita of Japan plays her shot from the fifth tee during the second round of the FM Championship 2026 at TPC Boston

Miyu Yamashita shot a 2-under 70 on Friday to share the FM Championship lead through two rounds at TPC Boston.

The 4-foot-11 Japanese player reached 9-under 135 only days after matching the LPGA Tour’s 72-hole scoring record in a nine-shot victory at the CPKC Women’s Open.

Allisen Corpuz joined Yamashita with a bogey-free 67. Hyo Joo Kim also carded 67 to join them in a three-way tie heading into the weekend.

Yamashita Maintains Scoring Run

Yamashita followed her opening 65 with four birdies and two bogeys, closing with consecutive birdies at the 16th and 17th. She leads the field with 14 birdies through 36 holes and has required only 51 putts, also the lowest total in the field.

Her opening round featured 10 birdies, including seven across an eight-hole stretch on the back nine.

The 25-year-old now has four LPGA Tour victories in four countries. She won the Women’s British Open in Wales and the Maybank Championship in Malaysia last season, then claimed the Meijer LPGA Classic in Michigan in June.

Corpuz and Kim Move Into Contention

Corpuz made four birdies across her final six holes on the front nine and hit 30 of 36 greens in regulation over the opening two rounds. It is only the second time in her LPGA Tour career that she has led or shared the lead entering a weekend.

“I’ve been hitting the ball really well and putting myself in the right spots,” Corpuz said. “I think this course is just one you just stay patient and you’ll get the opportunities as they come.”

Corpuz secured the final automatic US Solheim Cup points place last week in Canada.

Kim made consecutive birdies at the first and second holes, then repeated the sequence at the seventh and eighth. Her only bogey came at the par-4 fifth, while her 24 putts were the fewest in Friday’s round.

“It’s been a while since my name has been on the leaderboard,” Kim said.

Six Players Within Two Shots

Morgane Metraux and Ruoning Yin each shot 65 to reach 8-under. Jenny Bae joined them one stroke behind the leaders after a 68. Nataliya Guseva and Emily Kristine Pedersen were another shot back at 7-under.

First-round leader Sei Young Kim followed her tournament-record 64 with a 74, dropping to 6-under. World No. 1 Nelly Korda posted a second successive 72 and made the even-par cut on the number.

European captain Anna Nordqvist recovered from an opening 74 with a 68, advancing to the weekend in her final LPGA Tour appearance. Seven European Solheim Cup players and five members of the US team missed the cut.

Outside the majors, no LPGA Tour event offers a larger purse than the FM Championship’s $4.4 million.
