How the LET Order of Merit Works
The LET Order of Merit is the season-long points ranking used to decide the Ladies European Tour’s number one player. Also called the Race to Costa del Sol, it rewards players for their finishes in counting tournaments, with the highest total at the end of the season winning the title.
Players accumulate points according to their finishing positions in tournaments that count towards the LET standings.
The allocation varies by event. At the 2025 Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España for example, 500 points were available to the winner, the usual winning allocation at a standard LET event. However, at the 2025 ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open 750 points were offered to the winner if she was an LET member. The LET attributed that higher allocation to the tournament’s co-sanctioned status with the LPGA Tour.
Why do finishing positions matter?
Positions further down the standings also matter, with qualification opportunities and future playing rights governed by the relevant season’s rules.
The 2025 year-end rules provided two important thresholds:
- A top-10 finish qualified a player for the Final Stage of LPGA Q-Series.
- A top-70 finish secured full LET playing rights for 2026.
Major championship entry can also depend on the standings. Qualification categories for the 2026 Amundi Evian Championship included places drawn from the previous season’s top-10 and the current season’s top-20 in the LET Order of Merit, for players not already exempt.
Is the Order of Merit the same as the Money List?
The current LET Order of Merit ranks players by points. The LET Money List ranks them by tournament earnings.
The historical connection explains the terminology. For much of the LET’s history, its Order of Merit was based on tournament winnings, although the scoring method has changed over time.
