Three players share the lead after the opening round of the Aramco China Championship, and two of them are English. Annabell Fuller and Charlotte Heath each signed for an8-under 65 on the World Cup Course at Mission Hills China. China’s Liqi Zeng matched them.
“Everything is good. My putter is [doing] very well. I made a 10-yard birdie, so it was a nice day. This course is good for me. I like the second shots; they’re easy for me, and my putter is good too,” said Zeng.

The tournament is co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour and the China LPGA Tour. It is played over 72 holes of individual stroke play for a US$2 million purse, with Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings points on offer. Thursday’s conditions favoured attacking golf, and much of the field went low.
Heath arrives in form. The 24-year-old rookie claimed her maiden LET title at the La Sella Open in September. There she held off Alice Hewson and Alessandra Fanali after a nervy final round in Spain.
Liu leads the amateur charge
Yujie Liu sits one stroke back in solo fourth on 7under. She played alongside South Africa’s Casandra Alexander, who won the Wistron Ladies Open last week to clinch the LET Order of Merit with two events to spare.
“My front nine was on fire. Every approach shot and every single shot was perfect. I had an incredible round, and I loved the other players in my group. Cass [Alexander] is a wonderful player, and I’m super honoured to get the opportunity to play with her today. Overall, it was super fun,” said Liu.
